Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week's dual feature—Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb—presents a fantastic opportunity to snag shiny versions of both. Both Pokémon offer significant combat advantages, particularly when extra damage is crucial.

With two Pokémon in the spotlight, prepare for a busy hour! Maximize your chances by stocking up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. These items boost catch and evolution rates, increasing your shiny odds. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage—you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is tradable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. Voltorb evolves into Electrode using 50 candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, it packs a punch in battle.

Remember, Voltorb is Electric-type, meaning it's vulnerable to Ground-type attacks (160% damage) and resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack power. A blue shiny variant exists.

Hisuian Voltorb (#100), also from Kanto and transferable to Pokémon Home, shares Voltorb's evolution line and rewards (3 candies and 100 Stardust upon capture). It also has 1141 max CP, 111 Defense, and 109 Attack. While Electric-type, its resistances and weaknesses differ slightly.

Hisuian Voltorb's weaknesses include Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attacks (160% damage), while it resists Grass, Steel, and Water-type attacks (63% damage), and Electric-type attacks (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather conditions enhance its damage output. Its shiny form features a black body instead of orange.
