Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessory Collection
Sony has unveiled its stylish new Midnight Black Collection for the PlayStation 5, featuring a quartet of premium accessories: the DualSense Edge controller, PlayStation Portal handheld, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These additions to Sony's growing lineup of color-coordinated peripherals offer a sophisticated dark aesthetic.
The collection's pricing is as follows: DualSense Edge, PlayStation Portal, and Pulse Explore earbuds are priced at $199.99 each, while the Pulse Elite headset is priced slightly lower at $149.99.
Pre-orders begin January 16th, 2025, with a full release scheduled for February 20th, 2025, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. This launch coincides with the excitement surrounding CES 2025, further fueling gamer anticipation.
This Midnight Black Collection marks a departure from the PS5's original white DualSense controller, following previous releases in colors like Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Galactic Purple. The inclusion of a Midnight Black DualSense Edge controller adds a modern touch, complete with a dedicated black carrying case.
While the original Midnight Black Pulse 3D wireless headset was priced at $99.99, the Pulse Elite headset represents a significant upgrade, although it also carries a higher price tag of $149.99. Similarly, the Pulse Explore earbuds, also at $199.99, offer a premium in-ear experience. Both the headset and earbuds come with a felt gray carrying case.
Beyond the Midnight Black Collection, Sony continues to expand its accessory offerings. The recently announced limited-edition Helldivers 2 DualSense controller, revealed in December 2024, is another example of themed controllers inspired by popular PlayStation games. This controller is currently available for pre-order.
