Japanese Mahjong is an engaging game played under traditional Japanese rules, offering a unique and strategic gameplay experience. To play, you'll use the slider at the bottom of the screen to select your tiles, and then tap to discard them. The objective is to complete your hand with four melds and one pair.
Here's an example of a complete hand: [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4]. However, be aware that certain hands may not be valid if you use Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. Specifically, be cautious when using 1 and 9 in Chi and Pon, as these could invalidate your hand.
In Japanese Mahjong, you need at least one valid hand. You can declare a Reach by paying 1,000 points, which allows you to complete your hand. Note that you cannot declare a Reach if you've used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. A closed hand, one that hasn't used these actions, will yield higher points.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. A Lost Hand occurs when you're waiting to win, but you can't because you've already discarded a winning tile. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-drawing the needed tile. The key is never to allow your opponent to win with a Ron from your discard. Always strategize based on the tiles your opponents discard to complete your hand and secure a win.
