**Players & Cards**

Tongits is designed for three players and uses a standard 52-card Anglo-American deck, excluding jokers. The card ranks are as follows: Ace (1 point), 2-10 (face value), Jack, Queen, King (10 points each). The Ace is considered low in this game.

**Objective**

The goal is to form sets and runs through drawing and discarding, aiming to minimize the points of unmatched cards in your hand. A run is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., ♥4, ♥5, ♥6), while a set is three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., ♥7, ♣7, ♦7). Remember, a card can only be part of one combination at a time.

**The Deal**

The dealer is chosen randomly for the first game, and subsequent dealers are the winners of the previous hand. Cards are dealt counterclockwise, with the dealer receiving 13 cards and the other players receiving 12 each. The remaining cards form the stock, placed face down.

**The Play**

Each turn involves three key actions:

• **Draw**: Start by taking a card from either the stock or the discard pile. If choosing from the discard pile, you must be able to form a meld immediately.
• **Exposing Melds**: Optionally, you can lay down valid sets or runs on the table. If you draw from the stock, you're not required to meld, but you must lay at least one meld to open your hand. A special move allows you to lay down a set of four face down to open your hand secretly.
• **Laying Off (Sapaw)**: Optionally, add cards to existing melds on the table, whether yours or another player's. This can be done even if your hand isn't open yet.
• **Discard**: End your turn by discarding one card to the discard pile face up.
