Polish developer 11 Bit Studios has unveiled a new trailer for their eagerly awaited sci-fi adventure, The Alters, which is inching closer to its release date. In this latest reveal, the studio took a moment to honor their acclaimed wartime survival game, This War of Mine, which catapulted them to international fame more than a decade ago.

This War of Mine is renowned for its somber and bleak setting, whereas The Alters explores a more vibrant and often humorous narrative. This new game centers on the challenges faced by alternate versions of the protagonist, Jan Dolski. Despite the stark contrast in tone, the developers highlight a deep thematic connection between the two titles.

Though vastly different in their settings and atmospheres, both games are anchored by the theme of survival. In This War of Mine, players are thrust into the grim realities of a war-torn city, where they must manage scarce resources and navigate daily perils to keep their group of civilians alive. Conversely, The Alters presents survival as a relentless race against time, with players needing to maneuver their mobile base to escape an apocalyptic sun that reduces everything to dust.

Both titles challenge players to step out of their comfort zones and brave hostile environments in search of essential resources. The primary distinction between the games lies in their protagonists: This War of Mine features a group of ordinary civilians, while The Alters introduces a unique team made up of alternate versions of the main character, Jan Dolski.

The Alters is slated for release in 2025 and will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Excitingly, it will also be accessible on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass from day one, ensuring a wide audience can experience this innovative survival adventure.
