Although the C4 is last year's model, it remains our preferred choice over the newer 2025 C5, primarily because the C5 costs $500 to $1,000 more without delivering any substantial improvements to warrant the higher price.

The C4 is the 2024 model from LG's mid-range C-series OLED lineup. Compared to conventional LED TVs, OLED technology delivers superior picture quality, near-perfect black levels, an almost infinite contrast ratio, and incredibly fast response times. These advantages make the Evo OLED TV ideal for showcasing 4K HDR content in all its intended brilliance. The C4 utilizes LG's proprietary Evo panel, which provides higher brightness and contrast compared to traditional W-OLED TVs (similar to the QD-OLED panels found on Samsung TVs). LG is a particularly trusted brand because its OLED TVs have been on the market for years, benefiting from multiple generations of updates and refinements.

The LG C4 is also packed with features that gamers will appreciate. It boasts a native 120Hz panel that can be overclocked to 144Hz, and all four of its HDMI ports are 2.1 compliant, enabling 4K gaming at up to 120fps on a PS5 or Xbox Series X without screen tearing. LG's new C5 OLED TV for 2025 has recently launched. It builds on the C4 with an upgraded Alpha a9 Gen8 processor and a higher peak brightness, with the latter being the more notable enhancement. The increased peak brightness allows the C5 to offer a slightly improved contrast ratio, a somewhat wider color gamut, better handling of glare and reflections, and improved performance in very bright, sunlit rooms. However, these incremental upgrades do not justify the current price gap.
