Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Steam Early Access, the Deep Woods has tantalizingly appeared on the town map, a tempting yet inaccessible location—until now! The March 2025 update finally unlocks this mysterious area. Here's how to access the Deep Woods and find Caldarus.

Unlocking the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*

The key to unlocking the Deep Woods lies in breaking the Fire Seal and using the newly acquired Dragon's Breath spell. To break the seal, you must place four specific items on the Priestess' altar (Floor 60 of the mines): a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three are found between floors 50 and 59. However, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires a bit more legwork.

You'll need to team up with Juniper and Balor. To get Balor to procure the scroll, leave these items by his wagon:

• 10 Silver Ingots
• 10 Rubies
• 10 Sapphires
• 10 Emeralds

Once delivered, speak to Balor again; the scroll arrives the next day. Then, complete the offering at the altar.

Breaking the seal leads to an unexpected twist. Instead of a simple farewell from the Priestess, she urges you to flee before the scroll traps you. With your health depleted, calling for help brings Caldarus, who appears in human form and retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover. He then tasks you with finding him there, granting you the Dragon's Breath spell in the process.

This spell isn't just for show; it burns away the vines blocking the Deep Woods entrance and other previously inaccessible areas. Equip it from the pause menu, stand before the entrance, and activate it to permanently unlock the path.

Finding Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus awaits in his temple within the Deep Woods, north of the Eastern Road. You'll need Dragon's Breath to access the area. His location is clearly marked on your map. You'll find him in the northeast corner.

The path requires chopping down a stump with your axe upon entering. Once past, head north to reach his temple.

With the Deep Woods unlocked, use the Dragon Statue on your farm for quick travel (10 Essence). This saves considerable time compared to traveling on foot or horseback. You can still interact with Caldarus's statue, at least in spirit.
