Akupara Games has recently released a flurry of titles. Following the launch of the deck-building game Zoeti, they've now unveiled The Darkside Detective, a quirky puzzle game, and its sequel, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (yes, both simultaneously!).

Exploring the Darkside Detective Universe

The game opens on a gloomy, mist-shrouded night in Twin Lakes, a town where the strange, supernatural, and utterly ridiculous are everyday occurrences. The protagonists are Detective Francis McQueen and his endearing, if occasionally clueless, partner, Officer Patrick Dooley.

Together, they form the Darkside Division, a perpetually underfunded branch of the Twin Lakes Police Department. Players will solve nine bite-sized mysteries, immersing themselves in the hilarious and bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally witty follow-up.

These point-and-click adventures feature a diverse range of challenges, from time-travel enigmas and flesh-hungry tentacles to uncovering carnival secrets and battling mafia zombies. Watch the trailer below for a sneak peek!

The game is a vibrant homage to pop culture, brimming with references to classic horror films, sci-fi shows, and buddy cop movies. Case titles alone are intriguing: Malice in Wonderland, Tome Alone, Disorient Express, Police Farce, Don of the Dead, Buy Hard, and Baits Motel.

A standout feature is the game's remarkable ability to inject humor into every pixel. The Darkside Detective is available on the Google Play Store for $6.99. Interestingly, A Fumble in the Dark can be enjoyed independently of its predecessor, also available on Google Play.
