Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series, based on the iconic 2018 video game, is already set for two seasons even before its premiere. This exciting news comes from the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore, who took the helm following the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from the acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his latest project.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of, and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing." Despite not being a gamer himself, Moore humorously recounted his challenges with video game controllers, mentioning classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. "I took a stab at it, but the controllers threw me. 'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he quipped.

Moore, who will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series, brings a wealth of experience from his work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and as the showrunner for the 2000s revival of Battlestar Galactica. Despite changes in the production team, Sony's Cory Barlog remains on board as an executive producer, ensuring continuity and fidelity to the source material.

While details about the God of War series are still sparse, it's clear that Amazon is betting big on this adaptation, similar to their approach with other video game series like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, both of which were quickly renewed following successful debuts. This move suggests a promising future for God of War on streaming platforms.
