Bandai Namco has recently announced the closure of PAC-MAN Mobile, which carries a poignant irony as the iconic game celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. This version, which launched over a decade ago, has been a beloved mobile rendition of the classic arcade game.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued as of April 1st. If you are among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final date in May.

The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile rather than converting it to an offline version has left many players disappointed. An offline version would have kept the game accessible and potentially still generated revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included a Story Mode with a variety of original mazes, an Adventure Mode featuring limited-time themed events with exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. Additionally, the game boasted a range of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and the joystick, enhancing the visual experience.

The Reason

The decision to close PAC-MAN Mobile may be attributed to the accumulation of bugs and technical issues over recent years. These problems have likely contributed significantly to the game's impending shutdown.

Reflecting on the game's early days on Android, there was significant excitement around grinding for high scores and climbing leaderboards, making it a thrilling experience for many players.
