Battlefield Labs: Shaping the Future of Battlefield Through Community Collaboration

Battlefield Studios has launched Battlefield Labs, a revolutionary player feedback platform designed to directly involve the community in shaping upcoming Battlefield installments. This initiative marks a significant step towards collaborative game development, allowing players to actively influence the final product.

A New Era of Community Involvement

Announced on February 3, 2025, Battlefield Labs represents a pivotal moment in Battlefield's development. Battlefield Studios and Electronic Arts (EA) recognize the value of community input during a crucial development phase. Selected players will have the unique opportunity to test and provide feedback on core game mechanics and features.

Initially, players from European and North American servers will be invited to participate. While participation is currently invite-only, Battlefield Studios assures that regular updates will be shared with the broader community. Future Battlefield titles are also expected to incorporate this collaborative approach.

Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization, emphasized the importance of this pre-alpha testing phase, stating, "This game has so much potential... Battlefield Labs empowers our teams [to find that potential]."

Testing Core Gameplay Elements

Battlefield Labs will focus on iterative testing of key gameplay pillars. The initial phase will concentrate on core combat and destruction, progressing to weapon, vehicle, and gadget balancing. Ultimately, the feedback will inform map design, game modes, and squad dynamics.

Two established modes, Conquest and Breakthrough, will be included in the testing, providing opportunities to refine existing mechanics and explore innovative improvements.

Conquest, characterized by large-scale battles centered around capturing control points, will be rigorously tested. Breakthrough, with its attacker/defender dynamic and sector-based progression, will also undergo thorough evaluation. Both modes utilize a ticket system to determine victory.

Furthermore, the class system will be a key focus of player feedback, aiming to achieve the perfect balance between form, function, and feel.
