While pursuing your quarry, you'll unexpectedly encounter a fierce battle between Rey Dau and another monster in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Unfortunately, the enraged Rey Dau sets its sights on you and your hunting party.

Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, is immune to lightning but highly vulnerable to water and ice attacks. Its head boasts a 4-star weakness, making it a prime target. The wings (3-star weakness) also offer a good alternative. Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. For status effects, utilize all but Stun and Paralysis (lightning immunity renders stunning ineffective).

Use a Flash Pod

Employ Flash Pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for powerful attacks. During its lightning attacks, capitalize on the opportunity to strike its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility) for significant damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

Fortify your defenses against elemental damage with gear that enhances your resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill reducing damage and offering Lightning and Fire resistance, is a strong choice. Consider also consuming a meal that boosts elemental resistance.

To improve survivability, stay close to Rey Dau's legs. Its attacks primarily focus on the areas in front and behind it, offering better protection from its attacks.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's flight patterns will take it across the Windward Plains. Utilize the Vine Traps found on the lone tree to briefly stun the monster. However, exercise caution near its nest, as it employs a potent follow-up lightning attack in that area.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health to near-death levels (look for the skull icon on the mini-map). Then, set a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning-elemental creatures) and quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is of the essence here.
