Blizzard Bolsters WoW with Fresh Races in Patch 11.1
World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 introduces thrilling new races: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. and Skyrocket races. These replace traditional Skyriding races in the new Undermine zone.
Undermine, a vast subterranean Goblin city, prohibits flying. Instead, players navigate using the customizable D.R.I.V.E. vehicle, offering speeds surpassing Skyriding. Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races fully utilize this system, testing speed and skill.
Complementing D.R.I.V.E. races are the innovative Skyrocket races. These utilize Goblin jetpacks for aerial maneuvering, offering a unique blend of flight mechanics. Unlike traditional flight, players can't stop mid-air, yet maintain momentum and altitude better than Skyriding. Collecting rings boosts speed, but reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of strategic challenge.
No Skyriding, But Plenty of Racing:
Undermine's no-fly policy eliminates Skyriding races. However, both Breakneck and Skyrocket races feature achievements for Bronze, Silver, and Gold completion times. Reverse versions of all races exist, though advanced or challenge courses are absent.

Player reception to Skyrocket races is currently mixed. Some praise the novelty, while others find the jetpack controls less responsive than Skyriding. With Patch 11.1 still under development (February release anticipated), further refinements are expected.
