Caleb McAlpine's wish to play Borderlands 4 before it's official release was answered in spectacular fashion. On November 26th, he detailed on Reddit a trip to Gearbox's studio, where he met developers and enjoyed an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated game.
"We got to play what they have for Borderlands 4 so far, and it was amazing," Caleb wrote, describing his experience. His journey included a first-class flight, a studio tour, and meetings with key members of the Borderlands development team, culminating in a meeting with CEO Randy Pitchford.
Following his time at Gearbox, Caleb and a friend enjoyed a VIP tour of the Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star, home to the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters – a truly memorable experience.
While Caleb remained tight-lipped about specific Borderlands 4 details, he emphasized the overwhelming positivity of the event. He expressed deep gratitude to everyone who supported his request and offered their encouragement.

Caleb's journey began on October 24th, 2024, with a heartfelt Reddit post. He shared his cancer diagnosis and prognosis, explaining his desire to play Borderlands 4 before the end of his life. He described his request as a "long shot," but the Borderlands community responded with incredible compassion and determination.
News of Caleb's wish spread rapidly, prompting numerous individuals to contact Gearbox and advocate on his behalf.
Randy Pitchford responded swiftly on Twitter (X), promising to explore ways to make Caleb's wish a reality. After about a month, Gearbox fulfilled his request, providing early access to the game ahead of its 2025 launch.
