After 15 years at Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty multiplayer creative director Greg Reisdorf has departed. His tenure, beginning with 2011's Modern Warfare 3, significantly impacted the franchise.

Reisdorf's contributions spanned numerous Call of Duty titles, starting with his work on Modern Warfare 3. He played a key role in developing the game's content, including memorable sequences like Soap's gurney scene in the "Blood Brothers" mission. He also rose through the ranks at Sledgehammer Games, a studio established in 2009 and responsible for several Call of Duty installments, collaborating with other studios like Treyarch and Infinity Ward.

His influence extended to shaping the "boots on the ground" era of Call of Duty. In Advanced Warfare, Reisdorf contributed to gameplay mechanics such as boost jumps and tactical reloads, alongside unique weapons and map designs. He openly discussed his reservations about the "Pick 13" system, preferring a reward system that didn't compromise essential loadout choices.

Reisdorf also reflected on his work on Call of Duty: WW2, noting the initial controversy surrounding the weapon class restrictions and expressing relief at the swift reversal of that decision. His contributions to Vanguard included the design of both discovery and traditional three-lane maps, reflecting his preference for enjoyable gameplay over strict military realism.

His most recent role involved overseeing the multiplayer aspects of 2023's Modern Warfare 3, including the creation of new maps and live seasonal content. This included revisiting and enhancing classic maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009), as well as developing over 20 modes for Modern Warfare 3's post-launch support. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter in his career, but he hints at continued involvement within the gaming industry.
