Call of Duty: Warzone Experiencing Lobby Crashing Issue
Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
Warzone's recent struggles continue a trend of challenges for developer Raven Software. Following a December 2024 outage and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs, this new loading screen problem has added to the frustration. Since January 6th, Raven Software has been investigating reports of freezes and crashes.
Although the root cause remains unpatched (as of the Trello bug tracker), a January 9th Twitter announcement revealed a crucial update: Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts are temporarily suspended for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns regarding unwarranted penalties caused by the glitch. Penalties will still apply for mid-match disconnections.
This temporary fix alleviates the immediate impact, but the underlying bug persists, even after a major January 2025 update. The continued presence of bugs and disruptions to Ranked play remain significant concerns for the Warzone community. The development team is actively working on resolving these issues.
