The highly anticipated reboot of the Narnia series, helmed by Greta Gerwig, who recently directed and wrote the blockbuster Barbie movie, has added acclaimed actress Carey Mulligan to its impressive cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan will join forces with former James Bond star Daniel Craig, Sex Education's Emma Mackey, and Hollywood icon Meryl Streep in this new adaptation.

Gerwig, stepping back into the dual role of writer and director, is set to bring a fresh perspective to C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. The upcoming film will adapt the prequel novel, The Magician's Nephew, which unfolds prior to the events of the iconic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Carey Mulligan, known for her numerous accolades including Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations, is slated to portray Mabel Kirke, the mother of the story's young protagonist, Digory. Daniel Craig will take on the role of the film's titular magician and Digory's uncle. Emma Mackey is set to depict a youthful incarnation of the series' notorious villain, the White Witch, while Meryl Streep will lend her voice to the revered character of Aslan, the majestic talking lion.

This isn't the first cinematic venture into Narnia. A trilogy of films released between 2005 and 2010 brought to life the initial three novels by C.S. Lewis: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. These adaptations featured Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Gerwig's latest endeavor follows her success with the 2023 Barbie film, which not only became a box office sensation but also received eight Academy Award nominations, ultimately winning for Best Original Song. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is slated for release in 2026, promising to captivate audiences with its enchanting narrative and stellar cast.
