After you've taken down several members of The Shinbakufu, Gyoji will be waiting outside your hideout to discuss the tournament. This secret fighting arena is located at Ominesanji Temple in Southeastern Yamato. To the west of the area, you'll find the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint, which you should synchronize to establish a fast travel point. We highly recommend doing this to facilitate easy returns to the location and character switching if necessary.

Upon reaching Ominesanji Temple, speak with Gyoji again. He will inform you that you need to complete four one-on-one duels before facing the ultimate champion. After the cutscene, you can ring the bell to start the first fight.

How to Complete The Tournament in Assassin's Creed Shadows

The Tournament is a series of intense, life-or-death fights. Thankfully, you can take breaks between matches as needed, and you'll need to ring the bell to initiate the next fight. Use this time to heal with rations and consider upgrading your weapons and armor.

To defeat each opponent in The Tournament, we suggest using a long katana as Yasuke, focusing on dodging and parrying to make enemies vulnerable. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when you have enough adrenaline.

Knowing the weapons each fighter uses can help you choose the best counter. Here are the fighters you'll encounter:

• Lady Masago uses a Naginata.
• Lord Suguru uses a Katana.
• Lord Hokuto uses a Kanabo.
• Lady O-Sen uses two Poison Katanas and throws ranged items.
• Lord Unkai uses a Naginata and can heal by drinking if you stay too far away for a few seconds.

After completing the first tournament, speak with Gyoji again on the hill. He will express gratitude for his freedom and promise to inform you of future tournaments. The "Test Your Might" trophy should unlock during this conversation.

Best Loadout and Skills for Tournaments in Assassin's Creed Shadows

As mentioned earlier, the Long Katana is the most effective weapon for The Tournament in *Assassin's Creed Shadows*. Use the highest rarity Long Katana available and upgrade it to the maximum level at your hideout's blacksmith. An engraving that boosts Armor Damage or Armor Piercing will be incredibly beneficial. Your armor choice is crucial, as it not only increases your health but can also provide combat-altering engravings.

Before heading to The Tournament, unlock the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend by defeating The Ox from The Shinbakufu. Also, obtain the Protector's Armor by completing one of the Castles. The former provides a 75% damage increase but limits your health to 25%, while the latter enables you to parry unblockable attacks. Combining these engravings allows you to defeat tournament enemies in under a minute with effective parrying.
