Console Exclusive: Elden Ring: Nightreign Gameplay Revealed
FromSoftware's upcoming title will have a closed test phase exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Registration opens January 10th, with testing slated for February. This excludes a large segment of the fanbase from early access.
Bandai Namco has yet to explain the omission of PC players from this initial test. However, those selected for console testing will enjoy a first look at the game prior to its official launch.
Continuing the story of the original, Elden Ring: Nightreign promises a new, unsettling experience. While console gamers get early access, PC users will need to await further announcements regarding potential future testing opportunities.
A notable change in Elden Ring: Nightreign is the removal of the in-game message feature. Director Junya Ishizaki cited time constraints as the reason; with each play session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time to utilize the messaging system. Ishizaki stated, "We removed the messaging function due to the limited time—approximately forty minutes—available within each session for sending or reading messages."
