Pearl Abyss Prioritizes Self-Publishing for Crimson Desert
In a statement to Eurogamer, Pearl Abyss confirmed its self-publishing strategy, reiterating a previous announcement during their quarterly earnings call. While acknowledging ongoing discussions and collaborations with various partners, the developer emphasized its dedication to independent release. This strategy, according to an investor meeting in September, is projected to yield significantly higher profits than a Sony exclusivity deal.
No Official Release Date or Platform Confirmation
Contrary to some speculation, Pearl Abyss clarified that no official release date has been set. The developer plans to showcase a playable build to media this week in Paris, followed by a public demonstration at G-Star in November. While PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms are anticipated, a definitive list remains unconfirmed. A projected launch window of Q2 2025 is currently expected. The rejection of the PlayStation 5 exclusivity deal confirms that Crimson Desert will not be a timed exclusive on Sony's platform.
