Owlcat Games has unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, their next cRPG following the acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

Revealed at the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase, Dark Heresy casts players as an Inquisitor, a dedicated enforcer of the Imperium tasked with rooting out heresy. Here is the official description:

Become an acolyte of the Inquisition in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a new narrative-driven tactical RPG set in the beloved grimdark universe. Against the backdrop of the Noctis Aeterna and the enigma of the Tyrant Star, lead a warband of unique companions in a grim struggle against heresy and corruption. Your allies range from loyal Imperial subjects like a veteran Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to untrustworthy xenos such as a bird-like Kroot mercenary.

Featuring complex investigations, a turn-based combat system, and choices with serious repercussions, Dark Heresy offers a deep immersion into the brutality and mystique of one of the Imperium's most feared institutions. The game significantly expands upon concepts from Rogue Trader and includes fully voiced dialogue.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is scheduled for release on PC (via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. A specific release window was not announced.

In related news, Owlcat confirmed upcoming content for Rogue Trader, including the second major story expansion, Lex Imperialis, and a Season Pass 2, which will add two more DLC expansions and a cosmetic customization pack.

Lex Imperialis plunges players into the unyielding world of Imperial Law. This new 15-hour story introduces the Adeptus Arbites, a faction of unwavering enforcers, and a new companion—the stern and relentless Solomorne Anthar. With battle companions like cybernetic eagles and cyber-mastiffs, this DLC enhances both the gameplay and narrative of Rogue Trader and launches for all players on June 24, 2025.

Also announced is Season Pass 2 for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, which includes two new expansions and an appearance customization pack.

The third major expansion will let players explore a Necron vault overseen by the fan-favorite Trazyn the Infinite, confront ancient guardians, and discover relics connected to the Von Valancius dynasty.

The fourth expansion will send players to the Processional of the Damned—a surreal graveyard of voidships—on a chilling descent into madness and mystery. Each DLC will introduce a new companion, new quests woven into the core narrative, fresh mechanics, and provide roughly 15 hours of gameplay.
