Digimon Story: Time Stranger Listing Leaks Ahead of PlayStation State of Play Showcase
A new Digimon video game titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger seems to have been leaked by GameStop just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation.
Gematsu discovered and shared listings for this mysterious project earlier today, including store links that will allow eager fans to pre-order copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The GameStop pages currently lack any images or gameplay details for the unannounced Digimon Story: Time Stranger, but an official announcement may be imminent.
This leak comes just hours before Sony's latest State of Play event. While the exact content of the show remains under wraps, Sony has promised 40 minutes of reveals. Given the timing of the Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings and the ample time for announcements, it wouldn't be surprising to see the beloved digital monster series featured during the presentation.
Of course, the Digimon Story series has a rich history that predates this potential new entry. Fans will fondly recall Bandai Namco's spin-off series beginning with the original Digimon Story on the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, a variety of installments have been released across different platforms, with notable recent titles including Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017. Both were bundled into the Complete Edition in 2019.
Previous Digimon Story games have transported players into the Digimon universe, where they befriend and battle alongside digital monsters in engaging RPG gameplay. Although franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh installment. While releases like Digimon Survive have helped bridge the gap, the anticipation for a true continuation could soon be satisfied if Digimon Story: Time Stranger is officially unveiled soon.
