The Hill Troll is concealed within a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar. The easiest route to this location starts from the elevator in Lakeshire. Head down to Bahlgar as if you were preparing to battle Beastmen. However, instead of engaging them, stick close to the mountain's wall and continue around it. Pass two platinum deposits and scan the mountain's side; you'll spot the entrance to the Troll cave. To enter, you'll need to jump into this opening, ideally on a mount. It may seem tricky at first, but once mastered, revisiting the cave will become straightforward. Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest

Despite its intimidating appearance, the Hill Troll is one of the more manageable mini-bosses in Rune Slayer. You'll likely face it multiple times, becoming familiar with its attack patterns.

Never tackle the Hill Troll alone. Though its attacks are predictable and can be dodged, it's wise to join forces with at least one other player. Many enjoy farming the Troll, so finding a group shouldn't be difficult. Moreover, the Troll respawns in just 90 seconds after being defeated.

The Hill Troll wields a massive pillar, delivering slow but powerful strikes. You can parry or block most attacks, except when it raises the pillar overhead; at this point, you must run to avoid a stunning blow. High damage can stagger the Troll, and if you're a Warrior Class player, a well-timed Counter will almost always stun it.

While the Hill Troll occasionally drops rare equipment, your primary farming targets should be Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Troll Hides are essential for crafting solid endgame gear, which, while not the best, will prepare you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.

The Troll Head serves as a Quest item for the repeatable Hodor Quest. Every hour, you can deliver a Troll Head to Hodor, located near the cave, for a chance at random, potentially overpowered loot.

Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?

No, the Hill Troll cannot be tamed in Rune Slayer, even by a Beast Tamer Archer. As a mini-boss, it's too large and cumbersome to serve as a pet. We suspect it might even struggle to leave its own cave. If you're a Beast Tamer Archer, the reliable Mud Crab remains your best companion.
