Dr Disrespect, the popular streamer known as Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, has acknowledged sending inappropriate messages to an underage individual, confirming the reason behind his 2020 Twitch ban. This revelation follows four years of speculation and a previous denial of wrongdoing.

The controversy resurfaced after former Twitch employee Cody Conners alleged on Twitter that Dr Disrespect's ban stemmed from "sexting a minor" via Twitch Whispers. While Conners initially suggested the incident occurred shortly before the ban, Dr Disrespect clarified in a June 25th statement that the inappropriate conversations took place in 2017. He admitted to engaging in conversations that were "inappropriate," but maintained there were no malicious intentions and no in-person meeting ever occurred. This statement, viewed millions of times shortly after its release, drew criticism for initially omitting the word "minor," a detail he later restored.

This admission also sheds light on his recent departure from Midnight Society, the game development studio he co-founded. While Midnight Society cited upholding its principles as the reason for ending their relationship, Dr Disrespect stated the decision was mutual and apologized to his team, community, and family.

Despite the controversy, Dr Disrespect announced an extended but temporary break from streaming, stating he intends to return "with a heavy weight off my shoulders." He rejected the "predator" label applied by some online.
