Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit
The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening offered players an early taste of the game, featuring the first 20-25 hours and additional features. During the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, participants identified an exploit enabling perpetual stunning in PvP combat.
This "stunlock exploit" is triggered by a player executing repeated quick knife attacks against an opponent who has depleted their stamina. As a result, the targeted player is unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively locking them into a continuous stagger state.
The issue gained widespread attention when it was demonstrated during livestreams by popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud, highlighting the severity of the exploit.
Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch
During the Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom's developers directly observed the stunlock exploit and promptly committed to resolving it. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured the community that the issue would be addressed before the game's official launch.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the beta weekend now concluded, the developers have gathered valuable praise and critical feedback, which will be instrumental in optimizing the game for its upcoming release.
