You should never underestimate modders' determination. Elden Ring Nightreign has launched, and within just 24 hours, a prominent FromSoftware modder has already showcased a Duos mode modification.

Duos Mode Mod Demonstrated Hours After Launch

Luke Yui, known for co-op mods in Elden Ring and Armored Core VI, shared a brief YouTube clip demonstrating an Elden Ring Nightreign two-player mod. This allows two Nightfarers to team up instead of being restricted to solo or three-player setups.

Currently, this remains a proof-of-concept rather than a publicly available mod. Yui noted that the mod bypasses matchmaking servers, meaning players could use additional mods—but it also operates outside standard multiplayer channels. Whether this becomes a full-fledged solution remains to be seen.

A Much-Requested Feature Missing at Launch

While Elden Ring Nightreign supports solo and three-player modes, there's no native two-player option—forcing players to either go alone or recruit a random third teammate. Though seemingly minor, this limitation has frustrated many dedicated duos.

The absence of Duos appears prominently in early criticisms, with players voicing discontent on forums. As one Elden Ring subreddit user joked, Nightreign's community currently resembles "a threesome sub" due to constant recruitment posts.

Developers Considering Post-Launch Changes

Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki admitted to IGN that the team had "overlooked" Duos mode but acknowledged fan demand may prompt future updates. Given overwhelming feedback, a two-player option seems inevitable.
