Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously found in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, stating that the approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions are too short to allow players sufficient time to leave or read messages effectively. The statement reads: "With sessions lasting roughly forty minutes, there isn't enough time to send your own messages or read other people's messages, therefore we disabled the messaging feature."

This departure from FromSoftware's established tradition of message-based player interaction is noteworthy, given its past success in enhancing player engagement. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. Players can anticipate a fresh adventure with unique challenges and encounters, all while retaining the signature atmosphere and complex design of the Elden Ring universe.
