A Daily Grind: No-Hit Messmer Battles

Instead of passively awaiting the release of the co-op spin-off, Nightreign, chickensandwich420 devised a challenging self-imposed task: defeating Messmer the Impaler each day on NG+7, using a different weapon each time and achieving a perfect no-hit run. This ambitious undertaking began on December 16, 2024.

Initially planning a broader FromSoftware boss challenge, time constraints led him to focus on Messmer. The notoriously difficult boss, known for requiring numerous attempts even for highly skilled players, presents a significant hurdle.

A June Deadline: A Contingency Plan

However, chickensandwich420 has set a deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by June 2025, he'll shift his focus to other games. This self-imposed limit translates to approximately 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's development timelines are often unpredictable. Only time will tell if chickensandwich420's dedication will culminate with Nightreign's launch or if a delayed release will bring his impressive Messmer marathon to a premature end.
