Square Enix has confirmed it will discontinue Windows 10 support for the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV this coming October.

In an official statement, the publisher revealed support will officially conclude on October 14, 2025, aligning with Microsoft's own termination date for Windows 10 security updates and technical assistance.

"While FINAL FANTASY XIV may remain playable on Windows® 10 systems after this date," the company clarified, "we will no longer provide systematic troubleshooting for issues specifically caused by the unsupported operating system."

Square Enix noted it may address select Windows 10-related technical inquiries post-deadline, but emphasized such responses would be extremely limited, evaluated individually, and without guaranteed resolution.

The October 14 update will also bring revised system requirements for the Windows version. The minimum CPU specification will upgrade from Intel Core i7-7700 (or equivalent) to Intel Core i5-8400 (or better), while recommended specs maintain the Core i7-9700 standard. The OS requirement shifts definitively from Windows 10 to Windows 11, both 64-bit.

This announcement comes as Final Fantasy XIV prepares for its 7.3 content update, "The Promise of Tomorrow," scheduled for early August. The patch continues Dawntrail's narrative with new Main Scenario Quests exploring Solution Nine's mysteries and the expansion's aftermath.

Additionally, the update introduces the next chapter in the Final Fantasy XI crossover raid series "Echoes of Vana'diel" with "San d'Oria: The Second Walk." Veterans of Final Fantasy XI can anticipate nostalgic references and hidden easter eggs woven into these new encounters.

For the remaining Windows 10 userbase, this transition appears unavoidable. With Microsoft's support sunset approaching, players may want to evaluate their upgrade options in the coming months.
