The currently untitled sequel would see Pitt reprising his role as the stuntman Cliff Booth.

The screenplay for this sequel is an evolved version of Tarantino's previously shelved project, The Movie Critic, which was initially considered to be his final film. Tarantino, not ready to let the story die, handed the script over to Fincher. Netflix reportedly acquired the screenplay for $20 million, with a planned budget of $200 million.
