Fortune's Run, a Steam FPS game, faces an indefinite delay due to its sole developer, Dizzie, receiving a three-year prison sentence. This unique circumstance, unlike typical delays stemming from financial or technical issues, brings development to a complete standstill.

Prior to this news, Fortune's Run enjoyed positive reception on Steam, praised for its nostalgic art style and engaging gameplay, despite being in early access. However, all updates are now on hold until Dizzie's release. While the game's future is uncertain, its "Very Positive" rating suggests a dedicated fanbase eagerly awaiting its completion.

Dizzie revealed the news in a January 14th Steam update, stating the sentence is unrelated to the game's development and stems from past actions. While the specific crime remains undisclosed, Dizzie acknowledged a violent past. This situation, though unusual in game development, highlights the unpredictable nature of the industry. The game's original team member departed after a medical complication and subsequent loss of interest in game development, leaving Dizzie as the sole developer.

The game's Steam page currently targets a 2026 release from early access, a goal now highly improbable. Despite the setback, Dizzie expressed confidence in completing Fortune's Run upon release from prison in February 2025. Players can continue enjoying the existing early access version, and numerous other Steam titles offer alternative options in the interim. The lengthy development time isn't unprecedented in the indie game world, with games like Satisfactory taking over five years to leave early access.
