A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced
MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has announced their latest creation: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG. Partnering with 505 Games, this dark fantasy adventure plunges players into a world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.
The debut trailer highlights dynamic hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual aesthetic, and a richly atmospheric, shadowy environment. Gameplay and art style draw clear inspiration from Lords of Shadow, while environmental and enemy design echo elements of Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer also showcases a mechanical bird, suggesting a pivotal role in exploration.
Developed using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges frequently associated with Unreal Engine 5 projects.
Target release date is May 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
