Even before its official announcement, many observers criticized "Game of Thrones: Kingsroad" for its dated visuals, likening it to a PlayStation 3-era licensed title or a typical mobile game. Despite the initial negativity, some remained optimistic, highlighting the lack of compelling "Game of Thrones" games as a potential saving grace.
The recent Steam Next Fest demo, however, has settled the debate. The game is widely considered underwhelming.
Players have largely panned "Kingsroad" across the board, citing outdated combat mechanics, graphics, and numerous design choices strongly suggestive of a mobile game origin. Many label it a simple port, but even if not, its visuals and gameplay feel remarkably reminiscent of a 2010 release.
