Fans of Civilization 7 can hold onto hope for Gandhi's return as a leader, following insights shared by Civ 7 lead designer Ed Beach in an IGN interview on February 13, 2025. Beach suggested that while Gandhi may not be part of the initial release, there's a possibility he could be reintroduced through future DLC.

During the IGN interview, Beach elaborated on the decision to omit certain civilizations and leaders from Civ 7. "We haven't forgotten about any of our past characters," Beach stated. "There's a lot of concern about the absence of Great Britain or England, and why they're not in our game?"

The rationale behind excluding Britain and India from the initial roster of Civ 7, according to Beach, stems from the need to make room for new civilizations. "There are simply too many popular choices, and we always aim to introduce some fresh and exciting options," Beach explained. "As a result, some civilizations get left out, but we keep a broad perspective on when to bring leaders or civs back. So, there's still hope for Gandhi."
