Google is expanding Google Play Games on PC with major updates, including broader Android game accessibility. The company is also enhancing support for native PC games on the platform.

Soon, all Android games will automatically appear on PC unless developers opt out—reversing the previous opt-in requirement that limited the catalog.

Bridging the Gap Between Mobile and PC Gaming

Currently, over 50 native PC titles are available through Google Play Games. Later this year, Google will open the platform to all PC developers. To improve transparency, the company is introducing playability badges:

• 'Optimized' indicates full compliance with Google's quality standards
• 'Playable' denotes minimum requirement fulfillment
• 'Untested' games won't appear in standard browsing and require direct search

This system mirrors Steam's compatibility ratings for Steam Deck. If Google successfully ports most Android games to PC, it could challenge Steam's dominance.

Conversely, Google Play Games is bringing popular PC titles to mobile—Dredge is already available, with TABS Mobile and Disco Elysium arriving later this year. These ports will feature full touchscreen optimization.
