"GTA 6 Release Date Set for Fall 2025"

GTA 6's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is confidently eyeing a Fall 2025 release window for the much-anticipated game. Dive in to learn more about GTA 6's expected launch and the impressive performance of other titles from Take-Two Interactive.
Take-Two Interactive Looks To Have One Of Its Strongest Years
GTA 6 Release Window Still On Fall 2025
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is firmly on track for a Fall 2025 release. This was confirmed during Take-Two Interactive's Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, where the company discussed their current status and future plans.
Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed strong confidence in the Fall 2025 release timeline for GTA 6. However, he acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, noting, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." Despite this, Zelnick remains optimistic, stating, "We feel really good about it." He refrained from sharing specifics about GTA 6's development, emphasizing Rockstar's pursuit of perfection. Zelnick added, "I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Take-Two Interactive Game Releases In 2025
Zelnick highlighted that 2025 is set to be a landmark year for Take-Two Interactive, with a robust lineup of game releases. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launched in Early Access today, with the official launch on February 11th, and we also plan to release Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before year-end," he announced.
Zelnick is highly optimistic about the commercial potential of these titles, stating, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company is also projecting significant growth, aiming for "sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027."
GTA 5 Sold 210 Million Units Worldwide To Date
The GTA franchise remains a powerhouse for Take-Two Interactive, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide. GTA Online also enjoyed a stellar quarter, thanks to its holiday update, Agents of Sabotage. Additionally, GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, experienced a 10% year-over-year growth.
Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also performed exceptionally well in the third quarter. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, showing increased player engagement with "Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%."
Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to expand its player base, selling over 70 million units to date. The game's online component, Red Dead Online, is thriving with continuous updates, including the popular Halloween pass released last quarter. The game is currently experiencing its highest concurrent player count on Steam, with 99,993 players as reported by SteamDB.
GTA 5 Actor Does Not Hate His Character
Fans have long speculated that Steven Ogg, the actor who portrayed Trevor in GTA 5, harbored resentment towards his character. However, Ogg dispelled these rumors during an interview on the Inside You podcast. He clarified that he does not hate Trevor, but rather finds it strange when fans call him by his character's name. "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh," Ogg explained. He praised Trevor, stating, "He's a great character... He's awesome." Ogg also mentioned his ongoing friendship with his fellow GTA 5 actors, Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), noting, "I still see Fonteno and Ned, we're friends. We were just doing a Comic Con this past weekend."
In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg playfully suggested that Trevor could appear in GTA 6 only to be killed off at the beginning. However, he confirmed that he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and has no information on whether Trevor will return.
GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though no specific date has been announced. Keep an eye on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates on the game.
