IGN has exciting news for fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong: the eagerly awaited game will be playable at Australia's national museum of screen culture, ACMI, in Melbourne starting September 18, 2025. This opportunity comes as part of a special video game exhibition called Game Worlds, which will not only allow attendees to experience the game firsthand but also explore its intricate design and artistic direction.

Developed by Team Cherry, a studio based in Adelaide, South Australia, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of the most anticipated indie games globally, consistently topping the Steam wishlist chart. Despite the studio's vague 2025 release window, this playable demo at ACMI offers a tangible sign of progress.

ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement: “Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September.

Recent developments have kept Hollow Knight fans on the edge of their seats. Silksong made a brief appearance at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, providing a few seconds of new gameplay and confirming Team Cherry’s updated 2025 launch plans. This was the most significant update on Silksong in years.

Initially confirmed for Nintendo Switch and PC, with subsequent announcements for Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, Silksong has been at the center of numerous intriguing teases. Team Cherry started 2025 with a mysterious tease involving a chocolate cake recipe, fueling fan speculation about a re-reveal in April.
