Instead, he unveiled the cover for the next illustrated edition of *A Song of Ice and Fire* series, specifically for *A Feast for Crows*. This marks the fourth book in the series to receive the special illustrated treatment, and it will showcase the artwork of Jeffrey R. McDonald.

Set to release on November 4, 2025, *A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition* is now available for preorder at major retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target, as well as other top online bookstores.

What About The Winds of Winter?

For those eagerly anticipating *The Winds of Winter*, the wait continues. The latest update from Martin, shared in an interview in December 2024, suggested that he might not finish the book in his lifetime. This followed his November 2023 update where he confirmed having written 1,100 pages of the book.

While this news may be disheartening for fans who have waited nearly 14 years, there remains hope that the series will be completed by someone. With the fourth illustrated edition now on its way, it appears likely that the first five special editions will be completed before *The Winds of Winter* sees the light of day.
