Now, Pires is making a thrilling return to Image Comics with his latest project, Lost Fantasy. Lost Fantasy marks a reunion for Pires with the talented Luca Casalanguida, known for their work on Money. The first issue boasts cover art contributions from Casalanguida, Alex Diotto, Darick Robertson, and Jae Lee. Additionally, the series will feature a serialized backup story titled Indigo Children: Exodus, which continues the narrative from Pires' previous sci-fi series, Indigo Children.

In Lost Fantasy, a magical realm lies hidden beneath ours. A century ago, a natural disaster caused a rift, allowing monstrous beings to invade our world. Since then, a clandestine group of monster slayers known as The Great Hunters have been collaborating with global leaders to safeguard the boundary and protect humanity from these shadowy threats. But when a recent breach leads to a mass killing in Montana, the balance between the worlds is thrown into chaos. It's now up to rookie hunter Henry Blackheart to stop the impending disaster...

"I'm thrilled to be back at Image Comics with Lost Fantasy—a series that combines my passion for Western comics like East Of West and Something Is Killing The Children with the intricate world-building and action of the JRPGs I grew up with," Pires shared with IGN. "Our protagonist's Snow White spikey hair and Giant Sword pay homage to Tetsuya Nomura's iconic character design for Cloud from the Final Fantasy series."

Pires adds, "The 'Lost' in the title also nods to Hironobu Sakaguchi's underappreciated masterpiece, Lost Odyssey, reflecting the deep JRPG influences at the heart of the comic."

Lost Fantasy #1 is set to hit the shelves on April 30, 2025.
