Insomniac's Marvel Roadmap Sans Wolverine
Insomniac Games Remains Tight-Lipped on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date
Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained silent on the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio confirmed a busy roadmap and new team assignments, Co-Head Chad Dezern stated that information regarding upcoming releases, including Wolverine's release date, remains under wraps. "As much as we have pent-up excitement, we've got to hold on to it," Dezern said in an interview with Variety.
Wolverine's Development History and Connections to Spider-Man
Initially unveiled during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, Marvel's Wolverine is slated for PlayStation 5. A cinematic teaser trailer fueled fan anticipation. Further details emerged in a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, where Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed Wolverine's existence within the same universe as Spider-Man ("they're all in 1048"). While a crossover was initially expected, the only confirmed connection so far is a Wolverine-themed suit in Spider-Man 2. A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some of Wolverine's development assets.
Insomniac's Current Projects and Spider-Man 2 PC Release
Insomniac confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. The studio clarified that no further DLC is planned for the game, though the PC version will include all post-launch updates, such as new suits and New Game+. Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available. Currently, Marvel's Wolverine is the only other confirmed project in development at Insomniac Games.
