inZOI Developers Address Explicit Content and Realism in Upcoming Game

inZOI is set to enter early access soon, and fans are eager to learn about its features, particularly those concerning sex and nudity. In an "Ask Me (almost) Anything" session on inZOI's official Discord channel, three team leads answered fan questions, with the session being translated by Assistant Director Joel Lee.

There Will Be "Sort Of" A Sex Feature

During the Q&A, questions focused on the game's realism, including baby care, body size, and driving. However, explicit content, specifically sex and nudity, was a recurring topic. Lee provided a safe-for-work response, stating, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game where you can clearly tell what's happening—the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of creating babies. How visually apparent is that? That's where you have to use your imagination. What you see isn't exactly what's happening; you have to assume that's what's going on. Is that clear enough for everyone? It's there. Sort of. Maybe not to the level that everyone would have been expecting."

This statement suggests that while sex will be a feature in inZOI, the animations and depiction will be adjusted for a broader audience. Given inZOI's aim for realism, fans might expect a more grounded approach compared to the more playful style seen in games like The Sims.

Blurring Effects Don’t Work Well With inZOI

Players also inquired about the in-game showers where Zois wear towels, and the developers explained that pixelated blurring effects, which work well in cartoony games like The Sims, do not suit inZOI's more realistic art style. Attempting to apply these effects made the scenes feel more suggestive. Moreover, a bug during testing allowed players to see Zois without the intended visual effects when looking in the mirror, which the developers have since addressed.

Making inZOI Available to All

Despite the discussions around sex and nudity, inZOI has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB, akin to The Sims 4. This rating ensures the game remains accessible to a wide audience while maintaining a safe-for-work environment. Lee emphasized the team's goal to make the game available to various age groups, saying, "We wanted to provide a game that was widely available to as many age groups as possible."

A live stream showcase is scheduled for March 19, 2025, at 01:00 UTC on inZOI's official YouTube and Twitch channels, where players can learn more about early access pricing, DLC, and the game’s developmental roadmap.
