Jack Quaid Eyes Bioshock Role Amid Max Payne Comparisons in Novocaine
Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," has expressed his enthusiasm for appearing in a BioShock movie, citing the game as one of his all-time favorites. During a Reddit AMA coinciding with the release of his new film, Novocaine, Quaid highlighted the deep lore of BioShock, suggesting it could be ripe for exploration in a TV or movie adaptation. "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," he shared. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The prospects of a BioShock movie becoming a reality were discussed by producer Roy Lee last July. Following changes in leadership, the project was "reconfigured" to create a "more personal" film. Lee mentioned that Netflix's budget cuts influenced these changes, though specifics about the movie's plot remain undisclosed. Francis Lawrence, known for directing "The Hunger Games," remains attached to direct this scaled-down version. "The new regime has lowered the budgets," Lee explained. "So we're doing a much smaller version. It's going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."
Quaid's connection to video games extends beyond BioShock. Fans have noted his striking resemblance to Max Payne, a character whose likeness is based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. This similarity has sparked discussions, especially with scenes from Quaid's new action movie, Novocaine, leading some to speculate about a Max Payne film. However, Quaid admitted to being less familiar with Max Payne, although he expressed interest in playing the game, which is currently being remade by Remedy in collaboration with Rockstar. "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take," Quaid said. "I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Quaid also shared his passion for FromSoftware games, revealing his dedication to overcoming the challenges presented by titles like Bloodborne and Elden Ring. "I'm a huge video game nerd," he stated. "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
