YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared his disappointment over the cancellation of a Soma animated show he had been working on for a year. In his latest video titled 'A Bad Month,' Jacksepticeye not only revealed the ambitious project but also expressed his frustration and sadness over its abrupt end.

Soma, the critically acclaimed survival horror science fiction video game developed by Frictional Games, was released in 2015. Jacksepticeye, a known fan of the game, streamed it extensively upon its release and often lists it among his top favorite video games. His passion for Soma led him to collaborate with the developers for a year to bring an animated show to life.

In the video, Jacksepticeye explained that the project was on the brink of entering full production when it fell apart due to an unnamed party deciding to take the project in a "different direction." He expressed his frustration at the lack of progress on various creative projects and how this particular cancellation left him "quite upset."

The cancellation disrupted Jacksepticeye's plans for 2025, as he had intended to focus heavily on the Soma animated show, which would have reduced his content creation on YouTube. He shared his frustration, noting that the project's collapse left him questioning his priorities and next steps.

Jacksepticeye did not disclose the identities of the other parties involved in the project, and IGN has reached out to Frictional Games for comment. Following Soma's release, Frictional Games went on to release two more games in the Amnesia series: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In July 2023, Frictional's creative director Thomas Grip mentioned the company's intention to move away from solely horror-themed games to explore other emotional qualities in their future projects.
