What happens when you combine dinosaurs, warfare, and survival? The answer is Jurassic War Survival! Developed by Phantix Games, the creators of Mafia City, this latest release continues their tradition of bold genre mashups as it enters soft launch on Android in the US and Puerto Rico.

Jurassic War Survival is set on Dinosaur Isle, a classic "lost world" teeming with prehistoric creatures resurrected by mysterious corporate interests. But when a deadly virus spreads, infected dinosaurs begin assaulting the island's other inhabitants. Playing as a former soldier, your mission is to rescue Dinosaur Isle, uncover the origins of the virus, and find a way to contain it.

In practical terms, this translates to familiar strategic base-building gameplay. You will construct and upgrade facilities, strengthen your defenses, and repel waves of infected dinosaurs. Simultaneously, you'll recruit and train various dinosaurs and Jurassic-era animals to fight alongside you and protect your settlement from the infected hordes.

No expense spared

I don't mean to sound overly critical of Jurassic War Survival, but Phantix's portfolio consists largely of strategy games that feel quite similar.

That said, tapping into the current dinosaur craze seems like a clever move. For some reason, fascination with these giant reptiles has seen a major resurgence. Whether Jurassic War Survival distinguishes itself will ultimately depend on player feedback now that it's available.
