Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture, renowned for unique action games like the No More Heroes series, Lollipop Chainsaw is an action-packed hack-and-slash game where players control a cheerleader wielding a chainsaw against zombies. While Grasshopper Manufacture did not return for the remaster, Dragami Games took the helm, enhancing the game with quality-of-life improvements and a significant visual upgrade.

Several months after its launch in September 2024, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has sold over 200,000 copies across all platforms, including current and last-gen systems and PC. This milestone was announced by Dragami Games via a tweet, celebrating the game's sales success.

The game's narrative follows Juliet Starling, a cheerleader at San Romero High School who discovers her family's legacy as zombie hunters when her school is overrun by the undead. Players engage in thrilling combat against zombie hordes and unique bosses, using Juliet's iconic chainsaw in a style reminiscent of games like Bayonetta.

The original Lollipop Chainsaw on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, reportedly selling over a million units upon its 2012 release. Its appeal was bolstered by the collaboration between game designer Goichi Suda and filmmaker James Gunn, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy, who contributed to the game's story and writing.

While there is currently no information on whether the sales success of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will lead to follow-up content or a sequel, it bodes well for remasters of niche games. Additionally, another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, has recently been updated and released across all current platforms, bringing this action-horror game to new audiences on modern hardware.
