In games like Marvel Rivals, updates typically roll out every few months, allowing ample time to reach desired ranks before a reset. However, NetEase Games often breaks from convention.

Initially, the Marvel Rivals team announced a rank reset for the Season 1 mid-season update on February 21, 2025, aligning with the addition of two new heroes, The Thing and Human Torch, which could shift the game’s meta. However, strong community backlash prompted NetEase to reconsider the decision.

"Following Dev Talk 10 about the seasonal rank adjustment, we received extensive community feedback," the Marvel Rivals team stated in a blog post. "Many expressed concerns about the stress of mid-season rank resets, which diminished the fun of competitive play. Based on this input, we’ve decided to adjust the rank system for a better experience."

"When the second half of the season starts, ranks and scores from the first half will remain unchanged," the post continued. "Players can earn new rewards by completing 10 Competitive mode matches and meeting specific criteria by season’s end. Rewards include a Gold rank costume and unique Crests of Honor for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks."

This is welcome news for top-tier players, who now have at least another six weeks to compete at the highest levels. It also highlights NetEase’s responsiveness to player feedback, demonstrating their commitment to balancing community needs with game development goals.
