Switch Shader Compilation Mode

NetEase is rolling out a new experimental feature in Marvel Rivals that promises to enhance the game’s stability and significantly cut down on memory usage. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 30, the Switch Shader Compilation Mode is set to revolutionize the gameplay experience, particularly for players with lower RAM setups or those concerned about FPS drops.

In a detailed blog post on their official website, Marvel Rivals addressed player concerns about performance stutters and crashes due to high memory consumption during gameplay. The blog states, “To address the memory overload, we're unleashing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can activate this feature through the PC launcher.” This feature is especially beneficial for players with 16GB of RAM or less.

Once enabled, the game will see the following improvements:

• The shader compilation process will only run when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
• Game memory usage is dramatically reduced, cutting down on severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes triggered by memory shortages.

However, the developers have noted some known issues with this feature. For instance, at the start of each match, some materials may render abnormally for a few frames before returning to normal. Additionally, there might be some initial stutters, but these should resolve quickly, ensuring smooth gameplay for the rest of the match.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Twitch Drops

Kicking off Season 2, Marvel Rivals is launching a new Twitch Drops campaign from April 11 at 12:00 UTC to April 30 at 23:59 UTC. To claim the exclusive rewards, players need to link their Marvel Rivals accounts with their Twitch accounts and watch any Marvel Rivals streams with Drops enabled.

The rewards are tiered based on watch time, offering players a range of exciting in-game items.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Going Live Soon

The latest Dev Vision from Marvel Rivals has given fans a sneak peek at the upcoming Season 2 Hellfire Gala, along with plans to shorten seasons and introduce one new hero each month.

In preparation for Season 2, Marvel Rivals will undergo maintenance starting April 11 at 9:00 UTC, expected to last approximately 2 to 3 hours.

This update will introduce Emma Frost as a new playable character, complete with her X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire skins. Additionally, players can explore a new Domination map, Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, and enjoy a new battle pass with 10 brand new sets of heroic costumes.
