Second Dinner, a studio based in California, developed the highly popular game Marvel Snap, which is published by Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Unfortunately, due to recent actions, Marvel Snap has been banned alongside other apps such as CapCut and Lemon8. As of January 18, 2025, the game's availability on iOS and Android platforms has been discontinued, leaving many players frustrated.

Despite the ban, PC users can still access Marvel Snap through Steam. The developers at Second Dinner expressed their shock at the incident and are actively working to restore the game. In an official statement on Platform X, they reassured players:

“Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”

One of the most frustrating aspects for players was the lack of prior warning. Many continued to spend money on in-game purchases, unaware of the impending lockout. The ban affected not only Marvel Snap but also other ByteDance apps, though not all were impacted. For example, games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain playable.

In other news, Marvel Snap recently introduced a new card, Moonstone, which has the potential to shake up the game's meta. As an Ongoing card with a 4/6 stat line, Moonstone can replicate the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane. Given the current pool of low-cost Ongoing cards available in Marvel Snap, Moonstone's ability to copy these effects for free can significantly boost her power level. While cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent primarily generate power through their effects, Moonstone's ability to leverage these effects at no additional cost makes her a formidable addition to the game.
