Meta Quest Pro Officially Discontinued; Meta Quest 3 Takes the Reins

Meta has officially discontinued the Meta Quest Pro VR headset, as announced on its website. The decision follows earlier predictions that supplies would dwindle by early 2025. While the Meta Quest line has seen considerable success, the Quest Pro's high price tag ($1,499.99) hampered widespread adoption, both among consumers and businesses. Consequently, remaining stock has now sold out.

Meta directs potential buyers to the Meta Quest 3, touted as the "ultimate mixed reality experience." While some retailers might still have leftover Quest Pro units, finding them will become increasingly difficult.

The Quest 3: A Worthy Successor

The Meta Quest 3 offers many of the Quest Pro's features at a significantly lower price ($499). Like its predecessor, it emphasizes mixed reality capabilities, allowing users to overlay virtual elements onto the real world. Importantly, the Quest 3 boasts superior specifications in several areas: it's lighter, features higher resolution and refresh rate, leading to a potentially more immersive experience. Existing Quest Pro Touch Pro controllers are also compatible with the Quest 3.

Budget-conscious users can also consider the Meta Quest 2S, a more affordable option with slightly reduced specifications, starting at $299.99.
