Metal Gear Solid Welcomes the Year of the Snake with Snake Year Performance for Snake
Happy Snake Year! Metal Gear Solid voice actor David Hayter rings in 2025, the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, with a special greeting. Discover what exciting developments await the Metal Gear Solid franchise this year!
A Fortunate Convergence
David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake and Big Boss, shared a New Year's message on Bluesky, highlighting the auspicious timing of 2025 – the Year of the Snake – coinciding with the anticipated release of a new Metal Gear Solid title. Hayter is set to reprise his iconic role as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake.
Konami cleverly acknowledged this coincidence with a New Year's video on YouTube featuring a dynamic Taiko drum performance and calligraphy of the kanji for "snake," culminating in a bold "SNAKE YEAR" announcement. This underscores the significance of 2025 not only for the Chinese zodiac but also for Solid Snake himself.
Since its May 2024 announcement, followed by a trailer and Tokyo Game Show demo, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has remained relatively quiet. However, producer Noriaki Okamura recently told 4Gamer that delivering a highly polished, high-quality game is a top priority for 2025 – a significant challenge for the team.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Expect next-gen enhancements, including the return of Phantom Pain mechanics, along with new voice work and additional lines from the original voice cast.
